昨年から世界を覆い続ける新型コロナウィルス禍の下、 私たちの生活様式はもちろん、価値観すらも変化しつつある今日。 人類の歴史を紐解けば伝染病・感染病によって多くのシステム変更が行われ、 文明は発展し、やがて新しい文化となってきました。 脈々と続く絵画や彫刻といった手法を用いて表現活動を行う現代の作家たちが、 今どのように感じ・考え・描くのでしょう。 本年6月に開催された現代絵画のグループ展「祀画」に、 新たに彫刻・立体作品も加えての続編を企画します。 コロナによって自由を奪われ、グローバル化は退行し、 縮小した世界において生み出される「偶像」をテーマに、 既存の宗教の範疇に収まらない「祈りを捧げる対象」としての作品を集め、 人類の普遍的な創造欲求と偶像崇拝の合致する現在地を見出そうという試みです。

While the COVID-19 has been sweeping the world since last year, our lifestyles and even our values are changing. When we look back at the history of mankind, we can see that epidemics and infectious diseases have led to many systemic changes, civilizations have become advanced, and eventually new cultures have emerged. We would like to ask contemporary artists, who have been painting as a method of expression, how they feel, think, and paint now. This exhibition is a sequel to the group exhibition of contemporary paintings, "MATSURUE (Picture to Enshrine)", which was held in June of this year, with the addition of new sculptures and three-dimensional works. The theme of this exhibition is "idols" created in a shrinking world, where freedom has been taken away by COVID-19 and globalization has regressed. It is an attempt to collect artworks as "objects for prayer" that do not fit into the category of existing religions, and to find the current place where the universal desire for creation meets the idolatry.
