「万事快調」 “All is well”
「空想依存症」 “Daydreaming addiction”
「妄想癖」 “Delusion habit”
「天使・2」 “Angel 2”
まるで現実とは思えない、
夢や映画のような世界を生きた全ての命。
せめて死の先の世界では幸せであるように、
そう強く願いながら描いた。
All lives that lived in the world such as a dream and the movie not to think of to be the reality at all.
I painted these artworks, praying so strong that they become happy at least in the after life in heaven.
私の臨終の際は誰でもいいからそばにいてほしいと思う。初めて死ぬのにひとりきりでは心細い。
たぶん去年亡くなった花ちゃんもそうだったのではないか、と思って彼女の最期はそばにいたが、花ちゃんの気持ちはわからない。
この世からいなくなる時ひとりがいいのか、それとも側に誰かいたほうがいいのかは人によると思う。
ただしそれが選べない立場のものもいるだろう。
誰かにいてほしいのに、それが叶わないならば悲しいことだ。
何度か絵のモデルにした、那須サファリパークのゴールデンタビータイガーのボルタも、天王寺動物園のアムールトラの虎二郎も、飼育員のいない時間帯にひとりで逝ってしまった。
どちらも寿命を全うするには早すぎる年齢で、私の大好きな美しい虎だった。
今回はその3匹をメインモチーフに、鳥や動物や虫たちが集まり賑やかな天国をイメージして描いた。
天国があるかはわからないけど、もしあるならば、彼女や彼らが楽しく幸せに暮らしていてほしい。
痛みを感じる身体から解放されて、またこの世と違う姿かたちになっているかもしれない、と思いツノを生やしたり魚やヘビのような下半身にした。
花子を囲む手は千手観音の手を参考にした。
千手観音の手が千本あるのは、この世の生命のすべてをもらさず救うためらしい。
この世のあらゆる命が幸せになるというのは理想であっておそらく不可能だと思う。
それでも救われますように、せめて死の先の世界では幸せであるように、と思って描いた。
コロナ禍から今まで、まるで現実だとは思えない、夢や映画のような世界を生きた。
だからこそ安らかで平和な世界に憧れて、その感情が現れた画面になったと思う。
いつも描く時はせめて絵の中だけは現実を持ち込むことなく幸せな世界を作りたいと思っているけど、今回は余計にそう感じつつ制作した。
金田 花季
I would like anyone to be by my side during my dying days.
It's a bit disconcerting to die for the first time alone.
I thought maybe Hana-chan, who died last year, was the same way, and I stayed by her side during her final days, but I don't know how she felt.
I think it depends on the person whether it is better to be alone or to have someone by their side when they leave this world.
However, there may be some in a position where they cannot choose.
It is sad when you want someone to be there for you and it doesn't happen.
Both Volta, a golden tabby tiger at the Nasu Safari Park, and Torajiro, an Amur tiger at the Tennoji Zoo, who I have used as models for several paintings, passed away alone during the hours when their keepers were away.
Both were too young to fulfill their lifespan and were my favorite beautiful tigers.
This time, with these three animals as the main motif, I painted an image of a lively heaven where birds, animals and insects gather.
I don't know if there is a heaven, but if there is, I hope she and they live happily and cheerfully.
I thought that they might be free from their painful bodies and take on a different form from this world, so I made them grow horns and their lower bodies look like fish or snakes.
The hands surrounding Hanako are based on the hands of the thousand-armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
It is said that these thousand hands are there to save all life in the world.
I think it is an ideal and probably impossible for every life in the world to be happy.
Even so, I drew this picture in the hope that they will be saved, or at least that they will be happy in the world beyond death.
From the time of the Covid-19 disaster until now, I have lived in a world that doesn't seem real, like a dream or a film.
That is why I longed for a world of peace and tranquillity, and I think my paintings reflect that feeling.
Whenever I paint, I always want to create a happy world without bringing reality into the picture, but this time I felt even more so as I worked.
