今展の新作である「情念六相」(６点の小作品)は、
能面における女から鬼への変容を起点に、
現代を生きる少女たちの感情の行方を重ね合わせた作品群である。
本作のモデルには、Z世代の少女の姿を起用している。
彼女たちは、無垢であるがゆえに消費され、
視線を向けられ、欲望を投影され、
時に暴力や支配の対象となる存在でもある。
想いはある日、突然鬼へと変わるのではない。
違和感は静かに積み重なり、視界を濁らせ、
他者との隔たりを生み、やがて怒りとして形を持ち始める。
それは身を守るための、不可逆な変化である。
本作では、増女、泥眼、橋姫、中成り、般若、真蛇という
六つの面を「相」として捉え、
感情が顔を獲得し、異形へと変成していく過程を描いた。
中型作品では、まだ面を持たぬ少女の姿を描いている。
それは、傷つけられる以前であり、
同時に、怒りが芽生え始めた最初の瞬間でもある。
鬼とは、逸脱した存在ではない。
社会が生み、追い詰めた感情の、
ひとつの帰結である。

The new works in this exhibition, “Six Phases of Emotion” (a series of six small pieces),
is a series that takes as its point of departure the transformation from woman to demon found in Noh masks,
overlaying this motif with the emotional trajectories of girls living in the contemporary world.
The models for these works are girls from Generation Z.
They are beings who, precisely because of their innocence, are consumed, gazed upon, have desires projected onto them,
and sometimes become targets of violence and domination.
Feelings do not suddenly transform into ogres one day.
A sense of unease quietly accumulates, clouding one's vision, creating a distance from others,
and eventually begins to take shape as anger.
It is an irreversible change for self-protection.
These works depict six masks—Zōonna, Deigan, Hashihime, Namanaori, Hannya, and Shinja—as “phases,”
portraying the process by which emotions acquire faces and transform into monstrous shapes.
The medium-sized work portrays a girl who has not yet taken on a mask.
This is before she is wounded, yet simultaneously the very first moment anger begins to sprout.
The Ogres are not aberrant beings.
They are one outcome of emotions society creates and drives to the brink.
